My first Sales Stand

Together with my sister, Bettcanard Design, I will host my first artstand at Desucon:Fantasy ;) And as a sales gimmick we promise to tell a joke to the first 10 people who visit our booth

But what are we selling?
Some props, some jewellery and some cosplays we don't use any more. It will be grand. GRAND I say.

Bioshock Splicer Masks
And I figured I could make both cat and bunny, even one without blood and damage (more the style of Burial at Sea). If you want to make your own, here is a tutorial

Staffs
Some I have alreay used myself others are made just for this sale, And I have made several tutorials for these, Elvish, Kraken, Skull and Codex

Other staffs I want to make is an Ice staff and a Spirit staff (native american inspired) and a staff inspired by Yuna's Summoner Staff. Hopefully they get done until the convention in April.

Jar of Dirt
Why not, I had the mother mold of my human heart cast, so I painted it and put in a jar of dirt.

Human Heart purse
I will try to make more of this one.

Bioshock Salt bottles
More Bioschock you say, ok. I will bring a few bottles of salt to sell.

Super Mario Flowers
Not the cheap 8-bit foam flowers. Real carnivore, hand sculpted one of a kind flowers.

Jewellery
I love my geeky bling, why not let other enjoy it too, I plan to make stuff from these universes.
  • Halo
  • Mass Effect
  • Harry Potter
  • Bioshock

Posters
I have noticed that a lot of cosplayer are selling or giving away posters of their cosplays, maybe I should try this too :)

Fast Cosplay

Fast cosplay is a series of cosplay I have and will make that takes just a few days to make. The thought behind it is that you don't have to be a pro, spend six months and heaps of money just to cosplay.

For me cosplay is about having fun and get a chance to show off your love for a character. And most of us have limited resources to spend on costumes.

I already have a focus on using recycled materials and now I want to make a few characters mostly out of clothes and materials I already have.

A few tips:

  • A good idea is to choose a character with distinct features, like poison Ivy's red hair and green makeup.
  • Makeup always goes a long way, spend some time looking at makeup tutorials online.
  • Your costumes do not have to be screen accurate (unless you are entering a serious competition, but then you would spend more time).

A fast cosplay I have made in the past is the Wood elf, took me less than a day to put together and additional cost was about 20$

I hope to regularly post new fast cosplay examples  in this category.

Super Mario Piranha Plant

This is not my design, but I loved it and wanted to make small «potted plants». And I thought maybe that you were interested in knowing how I made them.

The process is fairly simple, as it is “just clay molding”, but here are a few WIP photos.

Start off with a ball

Make mouth and hollow it

Peel back lips

Add a tongue

Add teeth

Smooth out and add details to the outside.

To make it a bit easier I painted the flower head first and then made the stem. I have only used acrylic paint here.

Let it dry while you make the stem. The core is tinfoil to make it sturdier.

Flower head is glued on with hot glue.

Painted the stem green and finished with a clear coat.

Now I just need to put it in a green "plumber pipe".

Shepard Helmet birthday gift

It was my birthday last week and nerdy friends know me the best.

Kroforce Cosplay made this amazing Shepard Helmet for me. And it was even decorated with a bow! That is so awesome.

And Karin Olava sent me a birthday greeting structured as a "private terminal message" onboard the Normandy, including this strapping photo of Grunt.

Pretty sweet birthday if I can say so myself.
